HANS BACHNER SENIOR

* 1943-10-27
† 2023-10-13

Hans Bachner Senior died on Friday, October 13, 2023, after a long illness at the age of 79. The father of the current owner, Hans Bachner Junior, was managing partner of Bachner Elektro GmbH & Co. KG from 1970 to 2000.

With his progressive foresight, Hans Bachner Senior was largely responsible for the expansion of future-oriented business areas – and thus for the successful development of our company. As the representative of the third generation and over three decades, he managed to grow the family business from 17 to around 200 employees. One of his most lasting achievements was the move of our company in 1988 to the Am Hang 2 company building, which is still the headquarters of the Bachner Group. With his ambitious entrepreneurial thinking and actions, he significantly influenced the internal and external development of the Bachner Group – far beyond the region. As a family man, he never lost sight of the well-being of his employees and ensured a familial and friendly atmosphere.

Childhood and youth of Hans Bachner Senior

Hans Bachner Sr. was born during the war on October 27, 1943. 23 years earlier, in the turbulent years after the First World War, his grandfather founded his own business with entrepreneurial courage – a trait that Hans Bachner Senior also demonstrated again and again when running our company.

When Hans Bachner was not yet seven years old, in 1950, the Bachner office building was built on Bahnhofstrasse in Mainburg, where the Bachner Group’s electrical retailer, EURONICS Bachner, can still be found. Hans, who grew up with an older and two younger sisters, attended a boarding school in Donauwörth from the 5th grade. This is where he developed his comprehensive commercial and technical understanding, which would serve as the basis for his entrepreneurial activities throughout his life. After graduating from secondary school, he completed an apprenticeship as an electrician at a Munich company and remained there as a journeyman for two more years.

Hans Bachner then completed his basic military service in a rocket unit in Ingolstadt, after which he went to Weil am Rhein for two years of study to become an electrical engineering technician. In 1966, having just passed his master craftsman examination, he married his wife Gabi. The marriage was blessed with three children Stefanie, Hans, and Katharina. There are now also nine granddaughters and one great-grandchild.

Personal commitment in our hometown of Mainburg

In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Hans Bachner was also interested in local politics. He also pursued his hobby, handball, ambitiously: At the beginning of 1960 he joined the Mainburg handball department and in the following years became a top performer on the men’s team. In 2005 he was made an honorary member by TSV Mainburg.

Fourth generation family business

At the beginning of the 2000s, Hans Bachner Senior gave his son Hans Bachner sole responsibility for the family business. Now in the fourth generation, he is continuing his father’s success story: Today, the Bachner Group companies in Germany, Austria, the USA, and Mexico employ 850 people and around 100 trainees.

As a true family entrepreneur, Hans Bachner Senior always cared about the well-being and success of the Bachner Group, especially its employees. He always appeared modest towards his business partners and was always open to the concerns of his employees. His sensitivity, humor and strong social attitude were impressive. Our senior partner will be remembered as a strong personality.

The employees of the Bachner Group are deeply saddened by the loss of this special person and think of his family and loved ones with warm affection.
